Social isolation is one of the most common experiences for people with a disability. Not because they do not want to be social, but because the barriers are real. Transport is difficult. Venues are inaccessible. Activities assume a level of independence that not everyone has.
Aamoon Care provides support for social and civic activities so NDIS participants can get out, do things, and connect with other people.
Social activities cover catching up with friends, going to movies, attending community events, joining sports clubs, visiting museums, attending religious services, shopping, eating out, concerts, or simply going for a walk. Civic activities include voting, attending community meetings, volunteering, participating in advocacy groups, and accessing government services.
Our support workers accompany participants, providing physical assistance, help with communication, navigating unfamiliar environments, or simply being present for safety and reassurance. We also help with the practical side: planning activities, arranging transport, researching accessible venues, and problem solving when things do not go to plan.
Social and civic participation is funded under Core Supports, specifically under Assistance with Social and Community Participation. The funding covers support worker time during the activity. Entry fees, food, and personal expenses during outings are generally your responsibility.
Yes. Your support worker can accompany you to informal catch ups, outings you have planned, or organised programs. There is no requirement to stick to structured activities.
That happens sometimes. Your worker will help manage the situation, and your coordinator can help plan better for next time. One bad experience should not stop you from trying again.
Transport may be covered depending on your NDIS plan. Some participants use NDIS funded transport, others use public transport with support, others have their own arrangements. Your coordinator can help work out the best option.
