Innovative community participation is the NDIS term for programs that take a different approach to community engagement. Instead of the standard model, innovative programs create new activities, use technology, or design experiences that might not exist otherwise.
At Aamoon Care, our innovative programs are built around the idea that community access should be creative, interesting, and designed to produce real outcomes for participants.
Programs we develop include community art projects and exhibitions, supported volunteering with local organisations, technology based social connection programs, community garden projects, mentoring and peer support, micro enterprise support, media and content creation like podcasting and blogging, and partnerships with local venues for accessible events.
These programs evolve based on participant interests and community opportunities. If you have an idea, we are interested in hearing it.
Typically delivered in small groups with defined goals and outcomes. These might include skill development, community contribution, social connection, increased confidence, or employment readiness. Progress is tracked and can be reported in your NDIS plan review.
We involve participants in program design wherever possible. If a group wants to start a community podcast, we help plan the format, source equipment, and support production.
Funded under Core Supports, under Assistance with Social and Community Participation. Because innovative programs often involve shared costs, they can be a cost effective way to access creative community experiences.
Regular participation involves a worker accompanying you to existing activities. Innovative participation creates new activities, uses different delivery models, or partners with organisations to produce experiences that would not otherwise exist.
Absolutely. We actively encourage participant input. If you have an interest that could become a group program, talk to your coordinator. If there is enough interest, we will explore developing it.
No separate category is needed. Innovative community participation is funded from the same Core Supports budget as standard community participation.
